For APG, Magnit is looking for a Senior Enterprise Architect. Note: This role is also suitable for ZZP. If so, make clear in the notes. The worklocation is Amsterdam/Heerlen. One day per week in Amsterdam and regularly (once every two weeks) in Heerlen. The assignment is for 32 to 40 hours per week. The role falls in scale 12.

APG Asset Management’s ambition is to be a leading, responsible asset manager that delivers value to its pension clients through solid, future‐proof, and well‐governed operations. Within COO, architecture plays a key role in translating strategy into coherent capabilities, platforms, and solutions. To further mature our architectural capabilities and governance, we are looking for an experienced Enterprise Architect. In this role, you take final ownership of the Enterprise Architecture and its governance, ensuring it is fit for purpose today and evolves with the organization’s maturity and strategic direction. You operate primarily at a strategic and enterprise level, setting direction, standards, and guardrails, while remaining selectively hands‐on in critical designs and key initiatives where enterprise‐wide coherence or risk is at stake.

As Enterprise Architect, you are the final owner of Enterprise Architecture within Asset Management (with a primary focus on COO). You ensure architectural consistency & coherency across business, data, application, and technology domains and actively guide the organization towards higher architecture maturity.

Enterprise Architecture & Strategy
  • Translate business strategy and Asset Management objectives into clear enterprise‐level architectural direction and capabilities.
  • Define, maintain, and evolve enterprise architecture principles, target architectures, and reference architectures.
  • Safeguard coherence across processes, organization, applications, data, technology, cost, risk, and resilience.
  • Ensure alignment between enterprise architecture and domain‐specific architectures.
Architecture Governance (Final Ownership)
  • Support & monitor architecture governance, ensuring governance structures, processes, and decision frameworks are effective and proportionate.
  • Continuously assess and adjust architecture governance to support a maturing organization.
  • Set up and maintain architecture decision frameworks and oversee their consistent application.
  • Own and manage the Enterprise Architecture repository, ensuring quality, consistency, and actual usage.
Design Oversight & Guidance
  • Provide enterprise‐level guidance and authoritative direction to domain, data, enablement, and solution architects.
  • Act as escalation point for cross‐domain architectural decisions, trade‐offs, and deviations from principles and standards.
  • Be selectively hands‐on in key designs, global designs, and strategic initiatives where enterprise impact is significant.
  • Ensure major architectural decisions are well‐substantiated from business, cost, risk, and sustainability perspectives.
Leadership, Enablement & Coaching
  • Act as a senior sparring partner for business stakeholders and architects across domains.
  • Coach and enable architects to strengthen architectural thinking and enterprise awareness.
  • Stay up‐to‐date with architecture market standards, industry reference architectures, and best practices, translating them into pragmatic enterprise boundaries.
Position in the Organization

This is a senior expert role without line management responsibility. You provide strategic architectural leadership, complementing operational and domain‐level architecture roles. You bring:

  • University‐level working and thinking ability, preferably in IT, Engineering, Information Management, or a related discipline.
  • Proven multi‐year experience as Enterprise Architect in complex, regulated organizations.
  • Strong track record in architecture governance, principles, and enterprise‐level decision‐making.
  • Ability to balance strategic direction with pragmatic execution.
  • Experience working in Agile / DevOps environments; knowledge of SAFe is a plus.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, able to influence at senior management and architect level.
  • Authoritative, clear communicator with a coaching mindset.

  4. Universitair werk- en denkniveau, bij voorkeur in IT, Engineering, Information Management of een gerelateerde discipline
  5. Bewezen meerjarige ervaring als Enterprise Architect in complexe, gereguleerde organisaties
  6. Ervaring met architectuur governance, principes en enterprise-level besluitvorming
  7. Ervaring met Agile / DevOps omgevingen; kennis van SAFe is een plus
  8. Reisbereidheid van 50% of meer

Wensen

  1. University‐level working and thinking ability, preferably in IT, Engineering, Information Management, or a related discipline
